National Presidents Charge
Carol Anderson, Mariposa Partners, Inc., National NAMA President
Welcome to “Leading the Way,” the resource book for NAMA chapter leaders.
I’m pleased to say that NAMA is a great organization because it has GREAT leaders. Thank you for your willingness to serve NAMA as a chapter leader this year.
This is an exciting time to be in agriculture. While news has been decidedly negative recently, there is still a good bit of optimism for the future of agriculture and the global impact of agriculture. With that in mind, the NAMA executive committee’s 2009 focus will be on Relevance, Effectiveness and Productivity.
NAMA, as an organization, represents 3,000 communicators. This is the largest concentration of agricultural marketers and communicators in the United States. As always, a goal of NAMA is to be relevant as an organization for these communicators. As chapter leaders, you have an excellent opportunity to build your chapter into one that is both relevant and effective. I encourage you to take advantage of connecting with both your new and current members and invite them to participate.
This resource was developed to help you build your chapter and to make your job as a chapter leader easier. I encourage you to become familiar with the contents and to refer to it often. Become familiar with www.nama.org, also. There are many resources under the “Leaders” section. Look at the reports each month to see how your membership is moving. There are also ideas for chapter programming.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the NAMA office at (913) 491-6500.
Once again, thank you for your service to NAMA as a chapter leader. We appreciate your interest and commitment to make NAMA better for every member.
Sincerely,
Carol Anderson
